Transport in Europe
Transport to the Netherlands – from Mannheim
For transport to the Netherlands, we plan direct transport, part and full loads from Mannheim. Since July 2026, a distance-based lorry charge has applied there, and several cities have set up zero-emission zones – we take both into account when planning.
Good to know
-
Lorry charge since 1 July 2026
A distance-based charge (vrachtwagenheffing) applies to Dutch and foreign lorries over 3,500 kg on almost all motorways and some provincial and municipal roads; an on-board unit is mandatory. Since then, the Eurovignette is no longer needed for the Netherlands.
-
Zero-emission zones
Since 2025, Dutch municipalities have been setting up zero-emission zones for city logistics; transitional rules apply to vans and lorries depending on the vehicle. For deliveries to city centres, we check the access rules at the destination.
-
No customs within the EU single market
Within the EU, goods can generally be transported without customs formalities. There are exceptions for certain goods, such as goods subject to excise duty.

Frequently asked questions
What does the new lorry charge in the Netherlands mean?
Since 1 July 2026, lorries over 3,500 kg have paid per kilometre driven in the Netherlands – on almost all motorways and some other roads. Vans up to 3,500 kg are not covered.
Can deliveries be made to a city centre with a zero-emission zone?
That depends on the municipality and the vehicle, as transitional rules apply. Give us the exact delivery address – we check the rules before the transport.
Which public holidays are there in the Netherlands?
Among others King’s Day on 27 April and Liberation Day on 5 May, plus Easter, Ascension Day, Whitsun and Christmas. We take them into account when scheduling.
