Transport in Europe

Transport to Belgium – from Mannheim

For transport to Belgium, we plan direct transport, part and full loads from Mannheim. A kilometre charge applies there to lorries over 3.5 t, and Brussels has a low emission zone – both are part of our planning.

Good to know

  • Kilometre charge for lorries

A kilometre charge (Viapass) applies to goods vehicles over 3.5 t in Flanders, the Brussels-Capital Region and on the roads in Wallonia managed by SOFICO; an on-board unit is mandatory.

  • Brussels low emission zone

The low emission zone (LEZ) in Brussels also applies to vehicles registered abroad, such as vans. For deliveries to Brussels, we check the access rules for the vehicle used.

  • No customs within the EU single market

Within the EU, goods can generally be transported without customs formalities. There are exceptions for certain goods, such as goods subject to excise duty.

  • Public holidays

1 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, 21 July (national holiday), 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December.

No. The kilometre charge applies to goods vehicles over 3.5 t. Vans up to 3.5 t are not covered.

Can a vehicle from Germany enter the Brussels low emission zone?

The low emission zone also applies to vehicles registered abroad; whether a vehicle may enter depends on its emission values. We check this for the vehicle used before the transport.

Which public holidays are there in Belgium?

Ten statutory public holidays, including the national holiday on 21 July and 11 November. We take them into account when scheduling.
